Off-site accommodation

This is a list of all the accommodation available on-site at Corpus, including photographs and notes where available. Information and photos correct as of 2022.

8 Magpie Lane

NB: This was renovated in 2018, so the information below may be out of date.

Not in the college complex, but just past the Oldham/Jackson Building. Dated rooms. Delivery lorries reverse up Magpie Lane every weekday around 6 am and are very audible. This is especially loud for those living on the ground floor. There are two bathrooms on the first and second floors; the shower pressure is pathetic on the second floor but good on the first floor. Kitchen facilities on the top floor are the best in college, but are shared by many people. The walls are also very thin, and the front doors are not on the U-key.

68 Banbury Road

A large house quite far down Banbury Road in North Oxford, halfway to Summertown. Good for many scientists. Rooms vary in size, with larger ones facing east and smaller ones facing north. Basement rooms are darker and somewhat isolated from the rest of the house. Large kitchens, with one oven and one fridge each, on first floor and basement. Baths and showers on second floor and ground floor. Basement has two showers. Vanity units in basement and ground floor rooms. Sound insulation could be better: good between rooms, but bad between floors. In any case, can hear people on staircase and banging doors in room. See floorplan.

Second house on Banbury Road, previously used for graduates so we have very little information about the rooms, however would expect it to be similar to 68 above.

Liddell Building

A complex of buildings on Iffley Rd over Magdalen Bridge. Shared with Christ Church; quite modern with large kitchens except for Red House, which is Victorian-era. Has its own Porters’ Lodge and substantial gardens. Except for Red House, organised into flats of three or four, some of which are available to ballot for as a group (see table below)
As of 2021, both Staircases 3 and 4 are reserved for undergraduates due to fewer rooms being available on the main college site, but this has changed before.

See below for a sample of average liddell rooms and a kitchen, but some rooms also have individual images further down.

Lampl Building

A block of modern flats of five, all with en-suites, located down Park End St. Small rooms, large kitchens, near the clubs. Fox, Newbolt, Keble, Berlin, Ruskin and Rosewell flats are balloted as groups. Junior Dean normally in Hooker.

All the rooms and kitchens in Lampl are nearly identical. (Ground floor kitchens are more longer and narrower, and some bedrooms are mirror images of each other)
