Available Computers

There is a public-access computer in the JCR on which you can check emails. There are also several computers in the library, both upstairs and downstairs, which have internet access as well as library record access.

The computing suite (in Old Lodgings - go down the corridor opposite the Rainolds Room) has more computers and is open 24 hours (you need to use your Bod card to access it). You need a username and password to use the computers. If you don't have one, you need to fill in a form from outside the computing office (by the computing suite). If you have been locked out of your account or have forgotten your password, you need to visit the computing office during it's opening times (see below).

Network Access

If you have a personal computer that you want to connect to the internet from your room (or anywhere else in college), you need to register it. Collect an ethernet registration form from the computing office and fill it in - instructions are on the form. Once you are done, hand it in to the lodge. It should be done in a few days - you will get a letter informing you of this. If you still can't access the network, check that the MAC address on the letter is the right one. If not, inform the computing office. Otherwise, see below for computing support.

Computing Support

If you have a problem, your first port of call should be the student helpers, at least for the period where the computing office is short-staffed. The following students have said they are willing to help with simple problems. If they can't help you, you will need to go to the computing office (see below).

If someone's email username differs from the name they normally use, it is given after their name in parentheses. Add @ccc.ox.ac.uk to get an email address. Otherwise, it's just firstname.lastname@ccc.ox.ac.uk as usual.

If you have a problem that can't be sorted by the above list of student helpers (such as forgetting your computing suite password), you need to get in contact with the computing office. You can do this by emailing it-support@ccc.ox.ac.uk, or by going to the computing office in person.

The computing office is in Old Lodgings, opposite the Rainolds Room. It's open from 10am - 12 noon and 2-4pm on weekdays, except Fridays when it closes at 3pm.
