CCC Cricket Club

Q: How many Corpus sports teams can claim to have been featured in a book that was read out on BBC Radio 4?

The answer is, of course, just the one. The book is ‘Penguins Stopped Play’ by Harry Thompson (http://en NULL.wikipedia NULL.org/wiki/Harry_Thompson) and we featured in what was, sadly, Thompson’s last game of cricket before his death.

Ok, that was now 6 years ago and times (and Sportsgrounds) have since changed. CCCCC, over the last few years, have not been doing particularly well on the pitch, but have a great ethic and attitude off of it. Our games are played in a lighthearted and friendly spirit and we are almost always looking for people to play. Even if you have never played before or are looking to get back into the game, we can help. Last season we turned a German visiting student into a very respectable wicket keeper; even if the (now replaced) club kit was a bit tatty.

The highlight of the season is the ‘Clock Match’. An all day timed game against a team of Old Corpuscles. The day is usually great fun and is followed by curry and socialising.
