If you're struggling with money, Corpus and Oxford University both have several systems in place to help you.
College and University
There are two separate College grants:
The Hardship Grant is for any unexpected problems - for example, if you've broken your leg so have to take the bus everywhere or if your wallet's been nicked. Grants are made termly, with applications due in 6th week.
The Maintenance Grant is for 'expected' hardship. If you know you're going to struggle to pay the bills, apply for this before the start of term and hopefully you'll get the grant you need before you run into problems.
If you have immediate financial problems, our recommendation is to just speak to the Bursar. Our Bursar is fantastic and has a track record of being both helpful and flexible to those in need! The Bursary is located on the 1st floor of Fellows' Building (where you pay Battels and top up your Bod Card). You can get in touch via the Assistant Accountant, Diane Jones, on (2)76734 or by emailing diane.jones@ccc.ox.ac.uk.
If you need any help with applying for grants or money in general, the JCR Treasurer is the expert who'll be able to help you.
The university also have several bursaries available for those who have all or part of their tuition fees paid for by the government. Speak to the JCR Treasurer, the Bursar or the College Secretary about them.
The Student Loans Company
The Student Loans Company organise the payment of fees and who you can get a student loan from. Don't forget: if you don't apply for a loan, you won't get one! If you haven't applied for a loan, but get short of money, you can apply for the loan part way through the year.
